What is EDT?
EDT stands for Essential Driver Training. It is a structured programme designed to help learner drivers develop the knowledge, driving skills and safe habits needed on Irish roads.
Learner drivers who are required to complete EDT normally undertake 12 structured lessons with an Approved Driving Instructor.
How much are the 12 EDT lessons?
Our 12 EDT lesson package costs €600, subject to availability.
Contact us to discuss your experience and an appropriate lesson schedule.
Are 12 EDT lessons enough to learn to drive?
The EDT programme provides structured training, but completing 12 lessons does not automatically mean someone is ready to drive independently or pass a driving test.
Additional practice and lessons may be needed depending on your experience, confidence and progress.
What is Reduced EDT?
Reduced EDT is a six-lesson programme available to certain eligible drivers with previous foreign driving-licence experience.
Eligibility is subject to the official requirements and necessary approval. Our six-lesson package costs €300.
Visit Reduced EDT Driving Lessons for more information.
Can I book Reduced EDT without approval?
You’ll need to establish your eligibility and obtain the necessary official approval before taking lessons under the Reduced EDT programme.
If you’re unsure of your status, check the current requirements with the relevant official authorities.

Your instructor assesses your driving and provides feedback on areas that may need attention before the test.
Common areas include:

- Speed and progress
- Traffic lights and pedestrian crossings
- Vehicle control and manoeuvres

Yes. We offer targeted pretest and driving-test recovery preparation.
If possible, bring the feedback from your previous test so we can discuss the faults and identify what needs improvement.

Our aim is to help you develop safe, consistent driving skills and understand your areas for improvement.
